At DSM Woodwork, we strive to be green when it comes to finishing our cabinets and tables. After extensive experience (trial and error) with a variety of waterborne finishes, we have arrived at Milesi. In 2021 we began using Milesi products for nearly all sprayed finishes (clear and pigmented). Milesi products are designed to reduce environmental impact and air pollution, with products that are waterborne, low or zero VOC, and formaldehyde-free. The HGA1X clear is self-sealing, meets KCMA requirements, and has superior durability and chemical resistance (*compared to other waterborne finishes we have used previously). The 2K pigmented finish (HBR1 primer, HKR topcoat) has similar features as the clear HGA1X and compares well to traditional conversion varnish finishes when it comes to finished result. In the past, we have used BM Scuff-x or SW Emerald Urethane as our go-to waterborne paint; one downside of the BM and SW products is that the cure time is traditionally 30 days. The Milesi products we use cure in 72 hours (3 days) and have the best cured appearance in our opinion!
